Selecting a Contractor
- An important rule of thumb when looking to hire any contractor is to choose a reputable contractor with proven experience in your project scale and type.
- At Apollo Landscaping Supplies we can recommend good tradesmen for the job you have in mind.
- Obtain at least three itemised quotes.
- Inspect previous work and contact other customers if possible to ensure the contractor is capable of doing the work required.
- Ask each contractor for an estimated start date. Request a time-frame so that you have a guide as to when the project will be complete based on reasonable weather conditions (remembering bad weather is often an unforeseen factor that can stall work).
Tips & Tricks
There are lots of tips and tricks that you can incorporate into your landscape to make it appear different to what it actually is. You can bring out the best features of your garden, conceal or direct the eye away from other areas – or even incorporate visual tricks that change the yard’s perception altogether!
- Make your garden look larger by only using a small number of different plant selections, colours and objects.
- A change of level can add drama and draws attention away. It also makes a small garden seem larger.
- A long yard can appear to be a bigger space and be given a sense of mystery by breaking up the length with screens (trellis, plantings) or raised garden beds that jut into the general area.
- A short yard can be given visual depth by placing focal points at the centre of the space.
- Directing the eye to the furthest point of a triangular or irregular yard will give a feeling of depth.
